OK, so I didn't keep up with the blog at all this week. Bad me. Suffice it to say, my spring break has been relatively uneventful, but did involve a haircut and new shoes, so I guess it's been a good, if too short, holiday.
And because I'm boring and don't feel like blogging, here's the Friday Five.
1. Do you like talking on the phone? Why or why not? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Depends upon the person I am speaking to. Over the past few years I've come to like phone conversations much more than I did -- but I've also become very much dependent upon IM and e-mail as a primary means of communication. I prefer face-to-face over anything, though.
2. Who is the last person you talked to on the phone? My mom.
3. About how many telephones do you have at home? One home telephone, and my cell phone.
4. Have you encountered anyone who has really bad phone manners? What happened? I can't think of any time offhand where I've been involved in a conversation with someone who has terrible phone manners -- but I encounter people like that all the time. Many, many, many people come to the Starbucks drive-through yapping away on their cell phones. Personally, I think it is disgustingly rude to attempt to order while talking on the phone -- especially when these customers come up to the window and realise that they've ordered incorrectly, which just makes more work for us. Argh.
5. Would you rather pick up the phone and call someone or write them an e-mail or a letter? Why or why not? Well, this depends on the reason for the phone call/e-mail. If it's a short, informal conversation, then I prefer the phone over an e-mail or letter. But if it's a long or involved discussion, then I prefer to send an e-mail, because it allows me time to think over what I'm trying to say. (Though ideally I'd rather have an IM conversation, which allows me the benefit of real time response and the ability to consider my answers for a moment. I am such a sad little internet addict.) Of course, if the topic of discussion is very serious or personal, then I go back to preferring a phone conversation.
