You know, working at Starbucks really isn't all that bad.
No, I'm not succumbing to corporate coffee brainwashing techniques -- but I do like working. I'm finding my way around the place fairly quickly, and learning the "Starbucks way" isn't as laborious as it first seemed. I'm getting used to it, and it's not so terrible.
Perhaps this is also because I've been working with good people. It looks like, since I'll be on mostly afternoons and night shifts, I'll be working with two guys most of the time: Trey and Jon. They're both friendly and they don't patronize me if I ask a question. They're fun. Though before anyone suggests it, I'm going to make it clear right now than neither of them appear to be the type of guy I would date. Although Trey did call me "sweetie" this evening -- but I'm hardly concerned, since he also told me to be sure to let him know if yesterday's "hot blonde woman" with the iced Americano came to the drive-through again.
I got my first paycheck today, but tomorrow, I get to clock in as an actual person -- no more training -- which means I'll be able to collect tips. Woo hoo!
