Someone out there found me by searching for Windtalkers fanfic. Whoever you are, you have terrible taste in movies. :P

I can now cross out the scholarship application on my "To Do" list. This is excellent. My homework, however, is still very incomplete. Eh. I'll get around to it. Eventually.

As predicted, today's Starbuck's experience was indeed the World's Worst Shift -- and to make matters worse, it was a drearily drizzly, grey, and COLD day. Believe it or not, it "snowed" last night. Not that it actually stuck to the ground or anything, but snow did fall. My car this morning was covered in this frozen substance that resembled crushed ice. It's so foreign to me, this "winter weather" stuff.

But anyway, on this dismal day, I worked from eight-thirty in the morning to five this afternoon. I don't know if any of you are familiar with the sales patterns of coffee shops, but on cold days, the stream of people is constant. They all want a hot drink, and they all want it NOW. Thus, the drive-thru is a busy, busy place to be. Naturally, I was assigned a drive-thru till, which also granted me the priviledge of standing in front of the motion-sensored window that opens every five seconds to let a blast of frigid air in, with the Headset of Doom buzzing incessantly in my ear, alerting me to the arrival of the next person who was too lazy to come inside.

Actually, I am almost always positioned at the drive-thru window. I don't know why, but it's pretty much a given. I clock in, I assign a drive-thru till, I assume the Headset of Doom and then I stand back and listen to some really bad background music as I take people's orders.

Speaking of background music, it seems that every Starbucks CD features at least one Leonard Cohen song. It doesn't matter if the CD is a compilation of mostly bad reggae and weird rock -- there's a Cohen song, too. It must be a conspiracy. I don't even like Leonard Cohen, but I find that a few of his songs have grown on me, thanks to Starbucks. Help!
