O Canada!

Checking in from our dorm room accommodations at the University of Ottawa.

A quick recap:

Canada is beautiful -- all the "wild Christmas trees" (as I call them) are really new to me, and the cooler weather is wonderfully refreshing.

They have milk in a bag!! MILK in a BAG!

Ahem. Anyway.

I arrived yesterday, on time, after two rather uncomfortable flights. I met Rebecca and her friend Sylvia at the London airport and drove back to RJ's place in Stratford, where I was promptly and enthusiastically greeted by an adorable blond child crying, "It's Auntie Teri!!"

Nevermind the fact that Simon has never seen me in his life. His adoration was sealed once I revealed the stuffed armadillo I'd brought for him. Nicholas seemed equally pleased with his Texas-themed picture books, as he asked us to read them several times.

The kids are, if you can't tell from my reaction, the most precious things ever. I can't say I've ever heard toddlers with the vocabularies of high school students... but, hey, they exist. And they are so cute!

Visiting with RJ in real life is great. She's so warm and enthusiastic -- it's great to finally speak instead of chat. Don't let her try and tell you that Canadians don't actually use the word "eh" though, because I've heard Horst use it more times than I can count, and I've even heard it slip out of her mouth a few times. Hee hee.

The drive to Ottawa was scenic, except for the part with the THREE HOUR nightmare traffic jam. It took that long just to move three kilometres. Insanity, I tell you.

But in any case, we arrived here safe, and met up with Cally, and now we are all getting ready for bed and anticipating the con tomorrow. We've met a few of the other con attendees -- should be loads of fun.

More to come later.

Milk comes in a bag? Like, some sort of plastic, vacuum-sealed bag? *stares*

*isn't mad with envy at all*

You are hereby required to provide photographic evidence of this "milk in a bag" that keeps you so enthused about Ontario's supposed backwardness.

*waves to everyone* Have a wonderful time!
