Update! Woo!
So... a lot of stuff has been going on in the last couple of weeks, that I've been too lazy to blog about. Yes, I know. I am pathetic.
Weekend before last I took a little trip to Tomball, which was more enjoyable than usual. My sister, despite some stupid antics the night before, did a "fantastick" job as Louisa in the Tomball College summer production of The Fantasticks. It's the first time she's ever gotten to play the ingenue, instead of the Old Bag or the Comic Relief. My grandparents and aunt came into town to see it, and were certainly not disappointed. 'Twas fun.
One of the best parts, though, was Leah's love interest in real life the play. It is rare for me to comment on eye-candiness, but this guy... wow.
He's like a combination of David Duchovny and Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode (circa Black Celebration but without the leather). He is... Depeche Mulder!
When fandoms collide!
Anyway...
I've been working a lot lately. Wednesday was my manager's last day -- she took some vacation time to go to New York, then she'll begin her new position as a store opener. I painted a watercolour of our store for her as a going-away present -- she's not the sort to gush over a gift, but I could tell she was touched.
We have a temp manager until September -- he hasn't started yet, but the stories I've heard about him have been... not so flattering. Supposedly he's changed a lot since he was doing RMT in our store, but only time will tell. Thankfully, it WILL be very temporary, and our new manager is a woman from Pennsylvania. None of us knows anything else about her -- so we'll find out.
As may have been obvious from my last audio post, I've been picking up shifts here and there at different stores to get a few more hours. Most recently, I've worked at the Lohman's Crossing location, which is thirty minutes away and really slow -- but by far my best experience working at a different Starbucks. I let the acting manager know that he can call me anytime to pick up shifts there, since they're kind of in need of people.
But I won't be doing the ten and a half hour split shift thing again. Noooo.
And, in other news... I have found a new apartment! Yay! It's right in the location where I want to be, on the UT shuttle -- and what's best, it has a HUGE wrap-around balcony that I can use for a painting studio. I move in late August... it's exciting, because I really had hoped to find something with an area I could use as studio space.
It's hard to believe it's already July 21... and that means, off to Canada in a week! Woo!
