So, our first attempt at party-throwing was both a success and a failure. The success came with the fact that everyone still had fun.
The failure was that most of the people who RSVPed as "yeah, I'm coming" never showed. In fact only about ten of those invited actually came to the party. One person brought three of his friends, another brought about eight or ten. So all together about 25 people, tops, ever even knocked on our apartment door. And the person with all the friends wasn't here till 2am, and I was already intent upon crashing by then. For the majority of the time, we had between 6 and 10 people here.
When you have an entire keg of beer that needs to be got rid of, this is not a very good thing.
None -- none -- of my co-workers dropped in. Even though at least two of them said they would be there for sure. You see, even though MY party had been announced quite some time ago, and I'd had a little note on the duty board about it for a week, everyone attended a last-minute party for another co-worker on Friday night, so everyone (supposedly) was too tired or whatever to come to our party on Saturday. Of course, I'm sure they spent a fair amount of time going to see local concerts last night, followed by the traditional three in the morning meal at Magnolia Cafe...
Argh.
