The process of writing an essay

7.45 AM: Prodded awake by roommate.
8.15 AM: Prodded awake by roommate.
8.45 AM: Prodded awake by roommate.
9:00 AM: Get out of bed.
10.20 AM: Decide to get moving with that history essay.
10.30 AM: Check journals and blogs.
10.45 AM: Begin writing essay.
11.30 AM: Take break for lunch.
12.10 PM: Continue writing.
12.15 PM: Procrastinate online.
12.45 PM: Force self to continue writing.
1.45 PM: Congratulate self for mostly uninterrupted hour of writing. Procrastinate online.
2.00 PM: Force self to finish essay.
2.15 PM: Check email. Force self to finish essay.
2.30 PM: Complete essay. Realise that it's quite bad, if factually sound. But, most importantly, it's done.
3.00 PM: Turn in essay, a whole two hours before deadline.
3.01 PM: Rejoice.

When I was in San Diego for a conference, I saw a presentation on something called "flowcrastination," which basically means that many people who procrastinate actually go into a flow state when they get around to working on the procrastinated task.
