Lazy, rainy days

My mom came in to town last night, so she can plague a coffee roaster in Austin and arrange for him to supply her coffee chain when she opens the other stores over the summer. We hung out for a while this morning, and went out for brunch, but now she's off putting heads together with the roaster and showing off her floor plans for the new coffee shop. Things appear to be going well over there, with regard to the expansion, so that's really good for her.

It's overcast and lightly raining now. I have a large essay due tomorrow for my history final. I suppose it would behoove me to get started on it, but as I sit here in front of my computer listening to a really terrible cover of "New Dress" (sometimes I really wonder why I have these butchered Depeche covers on my playlist; I download anything that's remotely Depeche Mode related, and at least half the time the covers are deeply unimpressive. But I digress.), I'm thinking that I'd rather redo my template, or perhaps take a nap, or just curl up with a good book. Screw history essays: I'm going to get a B in the class anyway.

I found out on Saturday that our wonderful shift supervisor Jon isn't leaving till August now. Yay! He's going to make me a cheesecake for my coffee tasting at my supervisor panel on May 25, and I may or may not being going with him, Leslie, and Chris on a small road trip to Colorado over the summer, when they go to check out apartments and things up there. We'll see. A bunch of us went out to eat and to the movies on Saturday. We saw Secret Window, which despite featuring Johnny Depp was a pretty lame B movie. It was OK up until the end: the parting scene of the film was a close-up of Johnny Depp's mouth taking a loud, savage bite out of an ear of corn. How can you not laugh at that? Especially since his character's teeth had big silver braces.

Speaking of teeth, I have a wisdom tooth coming in. It is incredibly freaky, because I can feel the edge of the tooth back there. I'm guessing this means oral surgery for me in the near future. Oh, joy. I'll have to insist upon being seriously doped up before they try to inject me with any anaesthetic.
