Tonight's adventure:
We have these new barista drink recommendation signs. They say things like, "Today your barista is..." and "Today I recommend..." and "It tastes like..." with blank spaces to write the barista's name, the drink name, and description. We also have been sent a polaroid camera so we can take our pictures and tape them to the signs. Presumably this is to establish a more personal connection with the customers.
Obviously, this is not going to be executed quite as the fine folks at corporate intended. Today I was Genevieve, and I recommended an iced grande vanilla latte because "it looks like an oasis of refreshment in the desert of thirst and caffeine withdrawal." Leslie recommended a doppio con panna as being "perfect for whipped-cream addicts".
I have a feeling this trend will only continue. Tomorrow's plan: Your friendly barista, Dorcas, recommends the iced tall raspberry soy latte because it looks like pepto bismol and tastes like coffee-flavored robitussin. *maniacal laugh*
