They liked it.
My classmates and my professor liked The Lamp.
I'm completely nonplussed. I mean, I still think it's unattractive and poorly done. But everyone else was super-impressed. They all argued with me and said I was "too hard" on myself, and my teacher thought it a very successful piece.
Are they insane?
I must conclude one of two things: Either I am too hard on myself, or my entire art class does not know the meaning of the phrase "aesthetically pleasing".
However, if my teacher likes the thing, I do hope that my personal disappointment in The Lamp didn't affect my overall grade too much...
