It was actually rather chilly today! Well, in Texan standards, at least. It was almost cool enough for me to wear a sweater -- which meant that business at Starbucks was kind of crazy. My co-worker Shannon is a wonderful, wonderful person. She switched shifts and closed for me today so I could come home an hour early and finish The Lamp.
So The Lamp is now complete. And let me just say, it is one of the worst things I have ever created in my life. It looks like something one might find in the bargain bin at the dollar store, and I think it would probably be at home in a dingy bar. I can't even pawn it off on someone else; there is no way I would give this thing as a Christmas present to anyone. That would be just cruel.
But I finished the thing, and just looking at it makes me want to throw it against the wall: it's so terrible. Micki, taking note of my plight, decided that it was time to break out the comfort food, so we split a pint of Ben and Jerry's Half-Baked ice cream. I feel a lot better now. :)
In other news...
I got the tip-off from Natasha that today (or yesterday, rather) was Beta Reader Appreciation Day. I certainly do appreciate all of my betas; my writing would leave a lot to be desired without them. They are some of the most wonderful, helpful people in the world. Aw. :)
