Old friends and new technology

I spent a couple hours this afternoon catching up with my best friend from my Louisiana Catholic school, who I haven't seen or spoken to in about a decade. She's one of those people who I have often thought about, but never got back in touch with. I've even googled her name before (to no avail) -- but she ran across me on Facebook and dropped me a note. So, we spent a while exchanging the short versions of our lives since we parted in eighth grade. Turns out she's about to start her final semester of her art degree, and is doing a senior show of illustrations for The Silmarillion. She's also just recently jumped onto the Potter bandwagon and is reading Book Six (mwahaha).

It's odd. I haven't talked to or seen Kristi since I was 13 -- we had a bit of a falling out in eighth grade, which led to the complete lack of contact when we went to separate high schools (and I moved to Texas). Yet chatting with her online seemed normal and natural and like we'd been friends all this time. It gives me hope for other friendships that have died or faded away, others that I've wanted to rekindle but never have.

Anyway, I have her screenname and her e-mail address, and we can continue to keep up with each other.

This is why I love teh internets.
