Pastries of Mystery
Today I tried the Starbucks "butterfly cookie" for the first time.
See, each quarter, we get a new cookie in some kind of seasonal shape. It's always a dry, hard sugar cookie with decorative (read: tacky) icing. I expected the butterfly cookie to be no different.
But it was.
"This tastes odd," I remarked, eying the bright yellow icing.
As I chewed it thoughtfully, Hope said, "Chad thinks it tastes like bacon and pancakes."
"It... does," I said.
Hope rolled her eyes. "It does not!"
"No, wait," I said, biting into it again, "It tastes like sausage. Sausage with maple syrup."
Hope broke off a wing and nibbled it. "Yeah," she agreed slowly.
We employed Anthony to try the cookie. He concured with our findings.
Never before have I partaken of a cookie that mimics the flavour of breakfast meats. Starbucks, you've outdone yourselves this time!
