Is there a Tim Horton's around here?
An amusing incident that occurred late last night, especially funny to you Canadians. ;)
Last night, a young woman came through my drive-through and ordered an iced cappuccino. I went through our spiel about how you can't make iced cappuccinos because of the foam, and she ordered an iced latte instead. Of course, when I handed it to her, she said, "Wait, these things are supposed to be frozen."
"Oh, you wanted a frappuccino! What flavour do you want?"
"I don't know," she said. "I want the flavour that Tim Horton's iced cappuccinos have."
"Um. Okay," I said, baffled. "So, coffee, mocha, caramel, vanilla...?"
She shrugged and said, "I don't know! Haven't you been to Tim Horton's?"
"Um. I have been to Canada before, and I have been to a Tim Horton's. I think they probably make a coffee or a mocha flavour -- want to try that?"
She agreed and got a mocha frappuccino with caramel sauce. As I handed it out to her she thanked me, pleased with her drink, then asked:
"So, is there a Tim Horton's around here?"
I had to stop myself from cracking up. "Well, this is Texas, so no. Tim Horton's is a Canadian chain; they might be branching out into parts of the US close to the border, but I'm not even sure about that."
"Oh," she said, a look of disappointment in her eyes as I crushed her Horton's hopes and dreams.
She asked for the name of her drink again and wrote it down, presumably so that she could now frequent a Starbucks instead for her frozen coffee beverages, and drove off into the hot Texas night.
