Life sucks.
So, last week, Micki's truck experienced transmission problems. Four hundred dollars later, the transmission problems were solved. Things looked better.
Then, this week, Micki's truck experienced some major difficulties with the steering and suspension, which left her stranded in the school library parking lot. Things did not look good.
Then, on Thursday, a classmate of Micki's offered to buy her car, as is, so he could fix it and have a decent truck to drive. She gladly took the offer. Things were looking up.
Then, yesterday, they went to go inspect and pick up the truck. It had been broken into and ripped apart -- wires cut, panels stolen, doors completely bent out of shape. Fingerprints were taken by the police, but it looked very doubtful. Helpful classmate is a car geek and opted to take the destroyed truck off Micki's hands for four hundred dollars. Things looked bleak.
Then, today, my car's brake system decided to (nearly) implode. The Firestone people give me a quote that is considerably more than what the Brake Check people gave me over the phone. I tell Firestone that I want a second opinion, but they can change the oil while it's there. They agree, and offer -- both yesterday and today -- a ride. Since I live nearby, they can send the van to pick me up to get my car. I am most relieved.
The Firestone people have yet to call and let me know when they are coming. My car has evidently been ready for quite some time.
Things are getting really, really frustrating.
Why, why can't people under 25 rent cars?
EDIT: Firestone called right after I posted this. FINALLY. I'm off to Brake Check in a few minutes. :P
