Stuff
Guess it's about time for an update.
It's my so-called spring break. I've been working at Starsucks all week. 'Nuff said.
I took a brief jaunt on Saturday to a teeny place south of here called Canyon Lake, where my parents had rented a timeshare for the week. Evidently they purchased the week's rental at the church bazaar last October. It would have been better had the weather stayed nice -- it's been very gorgeous spring weather lately, but of course, on the weekend that we spend time at a lake, it's very wet and overcast. The landscape is lovely, though, and it's a place I might like to go back to in sunnier weather in order to take pictures. The Texas hill country is about as close as this state gets to Italy; the rolling green hills remind me of Tuscany, even though the vegetation is quite different (no cypress trees, for one thing :)).
This weekend, we mostly we drove around and looked at the pretty, though wet, scenery, played an amusing round of miniature golf, and went out to eat. Nothing exciting, though I enjoyed myself in a contented and peaceful sort of way.
Then Sunday came and I had to drive home and go to work. And Monday I worked an earlier shift so my whole day was shot. Yesterday was spent dropping Micki's truck off for repair, and driving to San Marcos to meet with the family (again) at the Giant Outlet Mall -- which was much more fun than I expected. I normally hate shopping because I have a hard time finding anything that fits well -- especially if it's shoe shopping. When one is cursed with wide and high-arched size ten feet, finding cute shoes that fit is nearly impossible. Somehow I managed to do it, though -- and in record time, too. And TWO pair at that! It's a miracle, I tell you. I also unearthed a goldmine in the Geoffrey Beene clearance rack and bought three cute shirts and three pair of khaki pants that look really, really good -- also a miracle, because pants-shopping for me is almost as bad as shoe shopping. The total amount spent came to roughly $160 -- which is ridiculously inexpensive for two pair of leather shoes, three shirts, and three pair of pants. I swear, there's simply no point in shopping at the mall, when the Outlet of Wonders is only thirty minutes away.

Today we went grocery shopping and I got a bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs. Mini Eggs are my all-time favorite Easter candy -- always have been, always will be. They seem somewhat harder to find these days, though... but I have them now, so I am satisfied. Chocolate, yum.
Which reminds me, Micki baked a strawberry pie this afternoon... I should go see how that turned out (that is, I should eat a piece before bed, bad girl that I am).
I found out today that my favorite shift supervisor is planning on moving to California in May. This is somewhat distressing, as it means I might get more closes with the Shift of Doom over the summer (ack!) -- but it also could be good for me if I want to nudge my way into shift training. I'm not sure I do just yet; I was thinking this was something I could get into later, perhaps after I float around Europe for a month next June. But hey... the possibility will be there, and at least one person has suggested it -- albeit very casually and unofficially. (I have been there for over a year and a half, after all.) But I dunno. I'll miss working with Jon when he goes, though, that's for sure.
Anyway... I think I'll go investigate that pie now...
