An amusing anecdote, that I forgot to mention in yesterday's Lord of the Rings commentary:
Yesterday, while Micki and I sat through the previews at the beginning of The Two Towers, an advertisement was shown. It depicted a young, possibly dangerous-looking person following a well-dressed middle-aged businessman in a questionable manner. The point of the ad was when the young guy suddenly thrust his hand out, held up a fifty dollar bill, and said, "Here, you dropped this. Have a nice day, sir." The businessman looked dumbfounded but eventually responded graciously, and the caption that popped up said something like "Honesty: Pass it around".
As the caption faded, Micki said loudly in the near-silent theatre, "Whatever! Like that would ever happen!"
Suddenly our fellow moviegoers burst into snickers, and I could see Micki blush as she shook with silent laughter. The surprising part was that it was Micki and not me who earned a response from the whole theatre. For once, I wasn't the one making loud sarcastic comments -- and it's usually Micki who tells me when to shut up. :)
