Writing, work, and it's holiday time already?
I am officially registered for Creative Writing. Yay!!! *does happy dance*
Today was a BAD day at work. It's been chilly and wet and dismal all weekend, which means that all of Austin heads for Starbucks. The place was totally slammed from two o'clock when I arrived, to five o'clock when I was sent off to borrow soy milk from another store. And of course, I was on the Headset of Doom for those three hours. And you all know how I feel about the Headset of Doom. When I finally got back, almost none of our closing duties had been done yet, so we had to work like mad for the rest of the night -- but, we still got out on time. I rock the closing shift.
Also, the holiday drinks are back. This is good news in one sense, as it means the Return of Gingerbread Latte. Mmm. But it also means the return of the Eggnog Puke-a-Latte. I swear, I have no idea how people can drink that stuff. Eggnog and espresso were never meant to be combined. Plus it's annoying to make.
On the other hand, cold weather does mean a sharp decrease in Frappuccino and shaken tea drinks, which is certainly a plus. :)
There's a technical error in Starbucks' holiday slogan, and as it's printed on everything (including our T-shirts), it really irks me. The slogan is "Every Day Magic", which I assume is supposed to mean that at Starbucks, the "magic" of great coffee is commonplace (snert). However, in order to read like that, it really should be "Everyday Magic". "Everyday" is the adjective; "every day" is a noun with an adjective. It Bothers Me.
Oh, well. At least it's better than last year's stupid theme: "Wonder. By the cup", and all the ridiculous slogans that went with it. Like "What if you don't have a chimney? Wonder. By the cup," or "Who puts the snow in snowglobes? Wonder. By the cup." Man, those got on my nerves.
