Addendum to my last post: The critique was postponed till Wednesday; however, we were still required to do the "make 10 forms in 15 minutes" exercise -- for a grade, naturally. I was most put-out, at first.

But the thing is, I think I finally got the hang of it! Finally! I managed to come out with 11 forms in 15 minutes. Go me! I guess it's a good birthday after all.

In other news, I had a really enjoyable weekend. On Saturday, my mother and I spent the day shopping for the rest of my summer wardrobe -- and though I don't usually like to spend a lot of time shopping, it's always nice to get new clothes. :) After that, Leah, Micki and I had planned to go out to this supposedly really excellent coffee shop in the Woodlands. Joseph was supposed to accompany us as well, being it that he knows where this place is -- but he ditched me for someone else's party, so we were stuck with his instructions instead.

Well, as some of you know, I am rather, shall we say, directionally challenged. Long story short, we never found the coffee shop -- whether by means of faulty directions or of my poor direction-following skills. Instead, we opted for our usual last resort: IHOP.

Now, in the IHOP, we were seated in the worst possible booth, right next to the kitchen. As we were waiting on our meal, Micki and I looked over and noticed a rather unsavoury scene playing itself out before our eyes: a waitress was sneezing repeatedly into her hands.

"Please wash your hands," I said under my breath.

But of course, the waitress instead picked up plates of food and carried them out to the tables. Thankfully, she wasn't OUR waitress, but it was rather revolting nonetheless. After that, each time she passed our table -- which was quite frequently, since we were right next to the kitchen -- I started saying, "Wash your hands," just loud enough for her to hear. I'm not sure whether she ever took the hint. We also debated about walking up to other customers' tables and informing them that The Dirty Waitress had been their server for the night, and probably laughed about the unsanitary IHOP waitress a lot more than was strictly necessary.

Sunday my parents and sister spent the afternoon at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, where the "St. Peter and the Vatican" exhibit is currently on display. It was a really wonderful exhibit, too -- I totally recommend it to anyone who is going to be in the Houston area this summer. Very beautiful and rich in history -- easily appreciated as art and history without religious context, though to a Catholic the exhibit has a certain spiritual significance as well. I could have spent at least another hour inspecting the details of everything -- but alas, I did not have the luxury of time. Oh well. It still made for a lovely weekend. :)

So instead of more birthday celebration, now I have an evening of work to look forward to. Joy. And speaking of work, I was made aware today that there is such thing as a Barista Action Figure. How weird is that?!
