New Template
It's been a while since I changed the template -- but I really was fond of those pomegranates. However, it's almost fall, so it was time for a more subdued theme.
The art this time round is Still Life with Bouquet of Flowers and Plums by Rachel Ruysch, an eighteenth century Dutch painter (*nudges Erica*) known for her still lives. I have a secret weakness for still lives, especially Dutch flower pieces like this one. What most people don't know about such pieces is that the bouquets portrayed rarely could actually have existed -- in the paintings, flowers that bloomed in early spring are intertwined with flowers that only blossomed in fall, and so forth.
