A highly biased and selective look at the college life of Teri

I never thought I would link to an audio file of a beer commercial, but this says it all. Hee hee hee. Thanks, Micki. :)

I had my last art class of the semester today. We spent two hours looking at my professor's slides of his work over the years. I am AMAZED that I have had the priveledge of being taught by Troy Brauntuch -- his work is really magnificent. I wish I was able to view it in person, as I am quite sure the slides do it no justice; my favorites are his drawings on fabric that are astonishingly beautiful and absolutely huge -- like nine feet across -- and I would love to see them as they really are, on that scale. Pieces like this one. Or this one. If I am ever in New York again I am going to make a point to search out his works in the Metropolitan and the Museum of Modern Art.

I mentioned afterward that none of my other art professors had ever shown their own work to the students, and that it was really lovely to be able to see his own progression as an artist after having him looming over my shoulder as a teacher all semester. Troy seemed genuinely surprised at the compliment -- and at the fact that none of my previous professors had shown any of their work. I really do wish more of my teachers would give us students the benefit of at least viewing their art in slide form -- I mean, isn't part of their teaching rooted in their accomplishments and personal drive as artists?

Hopefully I'll be able to have Troy Brauntuch as a professor again, with an advanced painting class or something, before I graduate. You know, I think if my professor was about 15 years younger, I would have a slight crush on him. ;) (Though it occurs to me that perhaps this is not something I should mention on the blog, especially as I know for a fact that my professor tells his students to Google his name in order to view some of his artwork online...)
