A conversation.

A couple come in the drive-through and order a triple venti toffee nut latte. I am on the Headset of Doom and because Jon is off training a newbie, I also make their drink on bar and take their cash at the window.

Two or three minutes later, while I am serving the next drive-through customer, the woman comes back in with the latte.

Woman: Can I talk to the girl who made my drink.
Jon: Uh-oh. Did she do something wrong? Do we need to fire her?
Woman: (laughs) No, it's fine, I just want to ask her something.
Me: Um. Can I help you? Do I need to remake your drink?
Woman: No, no... I wanted to ask you -- well, you might find this embarrassing --
Me: ...
Woman: -- but you know the guy that was in the car with me? He's my cousin and he just moved here --
Me: ....
Woman: -- and he doesn't know anyone, but he thought you were really sweet, and really pretty --
Me: .....
Woman: -- and we're over there getting gas right now, and he'd kill me if he knew I was doing this, but, um, can I get your number? You really made an impression on him.
Me: ...........................
Woman: It's OK! You don't have to.
Me: Well, I don't usually give out my number, but, um, you can have my e-mail address...

I guess I was feeling generous today. Or maybe it was just the fact that his cousin came in for him and asked for my number. It's so pathetically junior high that it's somehow cute and endearing.

So I may or may not be getting an e-mail from some guy named James. Um. Woo? Ew? I'm not sure which.
