Drip drip drop
It's been raining all weekend. With all the grey and gloomy weather, it's finally beginning to feel a little like fall, even if the temperatures are anything but autumnal; it makes you want to curl up with a good book and a warm drink, and spend the whole day reading. This is, of course, what I did yesterday. Well, sort of. I edited a book, then went to work and made warm drinks for other people.
Americano Author Lady stopped in last night. I haven't seen her in weeks since I've been working such limited hours. She chatted a bit about her local poetry magazine that she runs -- or what used to be a poetry magazine. She's changing the layout so that it features a different genre each month -- poetry, short stories, essays, etc. She mentioned that she'd like to dedicate a month to fan fiction; I told her I'd totally be up for submitting or writing something if she did so. It's a small thing, but I thought it was cool. :)
I have work again tonight, of course. The only thing that's good about the new hours is the fact that I get to see a couple of my favorite cops more often. Officer Tall Latte comes by every Saturday now -- he's the best. I found out recently, though, that Officer Grande Coffee is being transferred to the east side. This is tragic, because Officer GC was the perfect target for jokes and sarcasm. He's funny -- and a cocky jerk, and entirely too full of himself. But, he unwittingly sets himself up for a joke every time he opens his mouth. It's great. Even his own attempts at giving me a taste of my own medicine become ammunition for me. Heh heh. I kind of hope I never get pulled over by Officer GC. :)
You know, I think I'll go curl up with that book now, while I have time this morning...
