Yesterday, we (my mother, siblings, and a friend) took a trip to the Geoge R. Brown Convention Center in Houston for the Southwest Foodservice Expo. This was not my idea of a Really Cool Convention, but hey, given the choice between food expo and work, I'll take the food expo. Besides, my mother has been raving about these things ever since she discovered the joys of restaurant conventions, so I thought, hey, why not?
I learned something valuable about restaurant conventions and food expos: they're pretty cool... for about an hour. Then, once you're full, it's really uninteresting. So after my sister and I had reached our limit on taste-testing, we just sort of wandered around for three hours. Eventually I went upstairs (where my brother had been sitting, playing on the laptop -- as it turned out, he was too young to be allowed on the show floor) and ended up falling asleep.
I suppose the fact that I zonked out in the middle of a food expo should have been a warning sign that I was not myself. So far I've slept for about sixteen of the past twenty-four hours, and I have an awful headache. Wish I could determine what exactly is wrong with me -- whatever it is, my body apparently wants to sleep it off. Yawn.
There was at least one good thing about yesterday. After about a year, I finally got my hair cut. Well, trimmed and shaped up, really. But I have an actual hairstyle again! Yay!
Now, if I could only get my little avatar to show up on this blog, I'd be happy. Tired, perhaps, but happy.
